Ceará is an international reference for water sports. The Tourism Department highlights Aquiraz and Porto das Dunas among destinations sought by kitesurfers; the wind season generally strengthens in the second half of the year.
Before entering the water.
- Look for a qualified school or instructor, especially if you are a beginner.
- Check wind, tide, current and a safe setup area.
- Use equipment appropriate for your weight, skill level and the day's conditions.
- Keep your distance from swimmers, obstacles, boats and protected areas.
- Never practice alone in an unfamiliar location.
Pacoti River mouth
The Pacoti River Environmental Protection Area permits non-polluting water sports, including kitesurfing, but is an environmentally sensitive area. Activities must respect local rules, protected zones, tides and professional guidance.
